Parking Bumpers

Parking spaces can be designated in many ways. One of the best methods is to use parking blocks. Whether for home or business use, curb stops can provide a safe way to corral vehicles into proper places.

Most parking blocks are available in a variety of colors. Yellow is easily seen against dark pavements. White parking blocks should not be used in areas where snow may hide or obscure them. Blue is usually used to indicate a handicapped parking space. Gray is not as easily seen as the other colors, but can be used where color is not an issue for safety.

Recycled rubber or plastic is generally the material used to make wheel stops. Most are colored throughout, and do not need repainting. Concrete ones can be used for permanent arrangements, though it can degrade with fluctuating weather and need replacing after much cracking, chipping and breaking after a while.

Rubber parking blocks are lightweight and can be installed anywhere by just one person. For more permanent position, there can be mounting hardware available to secure it to the ground. Wheel stops can have reflective paint or stickers put on them to be easily seen in the dark. Plastic and rubber parking blocks are more resistant to deterioration by weather and elements, and won’t chip and break like cement ones.

The main purpose of curb stops is to help guide cars into parking spaces. Protecting walls in front of the parking space is the most common use, but can also keep cars from pulling into another parking space in front or in back of them and leave room for another car to park with enough space available.
Because curb stops won’t always have a car parked at them, they should be painted in bright colors so they are easily seen by pedestrians and reduce risk of being tripped over and causing injury.

Rubber parking blocks are good for temporary use. Tent sales and carnivals would benefit from using them. They are also a good choice in climates which get snow, as they can be removed for plowing.

Whether for home use or business, making sure that a car stops where it should is necessary for safety. Inexpensive, lightweight and colored for just about any use, anyone would be wise to use these devices to control the arrangement of vehicles.
